At first glance, you might not relish the hour-long commute to town, but that’s part of what makes this 4,500-square-foot, four bedroom/four bath Red Feather hideaway so seductive—it’s where you go to get gone. It wasn’t much of a challenge to imagine ourselves unwinding with a beverage, after a day of hiking or a relaxing 18 holes at nearby Fox Acres Country Club, on the balcony overlooking the home’s private lake. When gauzy sunrises and heavy doses of mountain sunshine are the order of the day, we would have no trouble camping out on our east-facing front façade with rock-solid views of endless evergreens and a plethora of perfect bouldering spots. We’ve already planned a few early-evening wine-tastings on the roomy porch. But in the event of one of our epic mountain thunderstorms, we’re covered with a wet bar inside a spacious living room that seems even more appealing surrounded by picture windows under cathedral ceilings. And when winter rolls around, we plan on snowshoeing right into our back deck hot tub, or cozy up to one of our three (three!) fireplaces.
Maybe we could go halvsies?
